Alfa Travel, a UK coach holiday company specialising in breaks for the 65+ age group has partnered with Re-engage, in a shared initiative to reduce loneliness among older people.

Emma Russell, Managing Director at Alfa Travel, said: “We are thrilled to be partnering with a charity that supports a cause that’s been so close to our hearts for such a long time. As the UK’s only employee-owned travel group, we view our customers as extensions of our own Alfa Travel family, so it’s important to us that we work with a charity that best benefits our customers.”

Alfa Travel dedicate one day every week at each of their 24 Leisureplex Hotels to fundraise for Re-engage. Their employees are on hand to help guests learn more about who Re-engage are and what we do. These Re-engage days are filled with fun activities for guests with a host of different prizes to be won. There’s a small fee for their Re-engage games night packs which is donated to Re-engage and each month, guests who buy a games night pack are entered in a raffle for £250 worth of Alfa Travel holiday vouchers.

Our services are designed to support lonely or isolated people aged 75 or older. We focus on this age group as they tend to be the most at risk of becoming lonely as they are at a time in their life when their social circles may shrink and getting out and about can become a challenge. Our call companions offer a regular, friendly voice through phone calls, our tea parties open the door to new friendships and a chance to socialise, and our activity groups help bring people together for gentle exercise, fun and companionship.

Re-engage director of fundraising and communications, Kitty Blackwell, said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Alfa Travel and their customers who have supported us. To date, they’ve raised an incredible £12,424 for Re-engage to help reduce loneliness.”

“With the exceptional demand for Re-engage’s free services, we’re grateful for the support of companies like Alfa Travel so we can continue supporting as many older people as possible struggling with loneliness.”
